단밤이의 해피엔딩 (Happy Ending of DanBam)

단밤이는 현재 5개월인 삽사리 믹스 여자아이입니다. 단밤이는 2개월 때 엄마와 다른 형제자매와 함께 구조되어 성남시보호소로 들어왔대요. 당시 엄마가 치료가 급하여, 단밤이는 입양되었고, 다른 형재들도 모두 임보나 입양으로 뿔뿔이 흩어졌지요.

DanBam is a 5 month old sapsaree mix girl. She entered SungNam city pound when she was 2 months old with her mom, other brothers and sisters. Her mom needed an immediate medical attention. Thus all the puppies were sent away by adoption or fostering. DanBam was adopted.

그런데 3개월 후 단밤이를 입양해 간 여자분이 실직해서 자기는 더 이상 키울 수 없다면서 다른 입양자를 찾았다고 보내겠다고 했답니다. 말도 안 되는 일이었죠. 원래 시보호소에서 입양을 할 경우 강아지의 소유주는 시보호소입니다. 따라서 파양을 할 경우 시보호소로 돌려 보내야 합니다. 그래서 단밤이는 다시 시보호소로 들어오게 되었답니다.

Suddenly 3 months later, DanBam's adoptor told that she would readopt DanBam to someone else because she could no longer take care of DanBam due to finantial difficulty. This was very wrong of her. In principle, DanBam is owned by the city pound even though she adopted DanBam. DanBam is supposed to be surrendered to the pound in a case like this. Thus DanBam returned the city pound.

다시 들어온 단밤이는 3개월 전의 단밤이가 아니었습니다. 미용사로, 단밤이를 데리고 출퇴근 하겠다고 했던 입양자의 말과는 달리, 단밤이는 혼자 남겨졌었던 것 같고, 무슨 일이 있었는지 단밤이는 사람 손을 싫어하는 강아지가 되어 있었어요.

DanBam surrendered was no longer DanBam three months ago. The previous owner was a hair dresser. She said she would not leave DanBam alone home by taking DanBam to her work, which did not seem to have happened. DanBam was avoiding human touch too.

이제 오갈데 없어진 단밤이... 이 시점에서 [같이 삽살개]는 단밤이의 딱한 처지를 페이스북 공지를 보고 알게 되었어요. 그래서 임보나 입양을 구하기는 힘들지만, 단밤이가 사람 거부증을 치료할 수 있도록 훈련소에 보내기 위하여 대모를 모집해 보기로 하였습니다.

[with sapsaree] got to know DanBam's story at this time via FB notice. Due to the lack of volunteers for adoption or fostering, we decided to pair DanBam with 8 god parents. These god parents will chip in for her training fee for 6 months to recover her trust of humans.

그런데 천둥이 때와는 달리 선뜻 단밤이 대모로 자원해 주시는 분들이 많지 않았어요. 사실 파양하는 사람에 대한 분노가 제게도 있습니다. 차라리 보호소에서 안락사 위기에 있는 강아지를 구하면 구했지, 파양자가 쉽게 강아지를 버리게 도와주고 싶지 않은 동기가 강아지를 사랑하는 모두에게 있습니다. 동시에 단밤이를 돌보던 시보호소의 자원봉자자들은 단밤이가, 훈련소보다는, 사람과 접촉을 할 수 있는 임보가정으로 한달이라도 가 있기를 바랬어요. 그래서 제가 단밤이를 한달 임보를 해 주기로 약속을 했답니다.

But, unlike CheonDoong's case, there were not many volunteers for god parents for DanBam. In fact we understood why. We would rescue a dog from a kill pound, rather than rescuing a surrendered dog which results in helping a person to surrender a dog. At the same time, the volunteers at the city pound wanted to find a foster home for DanBam so that she could have much needed human contacts. Thus I offered a month fostering for DanBam.

이미 7마리가 우굴거리는데 해서는 안 될 약속이긴 했어요. 그래서 걱정으로 마음이 무겁고, 단밤이가 애처로와 마음이 다급하던 날... 더 좋을 수 없는 소식이 왔답니다. 단밤이가 입양이 되었어요.

It was not a wise decision since there are 7 dogs already (3 of my own and 4 fosters). Thus my mind was loaded with worry about the situation and also with concern for DanBam who must be shrunk in a corner at the pound. Then we received the best news! DanBam was adopted!!

다른 강아지를 입양하려고 보호소에 온 부부가 단밤이와 사랑에 빠진 것이었죠. 아래 동영상 보시면, 입양자가 단밤이의 마음을 간식과 다정한 말로 열어 주시는 게 보여요. 마지막 동영상은 입양간 성남시의 보배곱창에서 찍은 듯 합니다. 여기서의 단밤이는 이미 5개월령 보통 강아지로 보여요!! 사람을 피하던 아이는 어디 갔나요?!

A couple, who visited the pound to adopt another pup, fell in love with DanBam. You will see how the couple opened DanBam's mind using treats and soft talks. The last video must have been taken at the adoptor's restaurant. You see there DanBam is already a normal 5 month old puppy!! Where is the pup who used to shy away from human touch?!

자원봉사자 분들은 물론이고, 단밤이를 한번도 만나지 않은 저를 비롯한 [같이 삽살개] 운영진과 후원자님들, 그리고 팔로워분들이 모두 눈물을 글썽이며 크게 기뻐했답니다. 이런 기쁨으로, 실제 득이 하나 없는, 구조활동을 계속할 수 있는 게 아닌가 싶어요~ 사지말고 입양해요. 사랑으로 임보해요. 감사합니다.
